Januar/Februar/März 2020: Im Januar und Februar hat sich in und um das Haus relativ wenig verändert. Da das Wetter am Jahresanfang ziemlich stürmisch und verregnet war, half letztendlich nur der Rückzug in die eigenen vier Wände. Wir konnten aber zumindest das Gästebad und das Badezimmer mit den noch fehlenden Schränken ausstatten. Mitte März kam dann abschließend noch ein Spiegelschrank im Badezimmer hinzu – somit ist die Möblierung in den Bädern komplett.

Da dass Wetter im März doch erstaunlich gut gewesen ist, haben wir uns an das Projekt Friesenwall gemacht. Arbeitstechnisch hätte es zeitlich eigentlich nicht gepasst, da uns das Corona-Virus aber wie so viele Menschen ins Homeoffice befördert hat, war auf einmal auch ausreichend Zeit vorhanden, um dieses Projekt Mitte März zu beginnen und zu unserem Erstaunen noch im März weitestgehend abzuschließen. Da nicht jeder etwas mit dem Begriff Friesenwall anfangen kann hier noch eine kurze Erläuterung: Ein Friesenwall ist eine für Norddeutschland typische Trockensteinmauer. Dabei werden Findlinge übereinander gestapelt und nicht zementiert. Der Wall gewinnt Stabilität durch sein eigenes Gewicht und die Erde, die ihn abstützt. Der Wall wird abschließend nach Belieben bepflanzt. Eine Aufgabe die uns dann im April erwartet.

Insgesamt haben wir innerhalb einer Woche an zwei Seiten unseres Grundstücks auf 67 Metern 18 Tonnen Findlinge verbaut, die wir über das Bauzentrum Beckmann in Nordersted bezogen haben. Unser Nachbar Rainer hat uns dabei wieder tatkräftig geholfen – ansonsten wäre der Wall auch noch nicht fertig. Natürlich haben wir die in Corona-Zeiten nötigen Abstände zueinander eingehalten und die Begrüßung per Handschlag vermieden.

Durch die Arbeit im Homeoffice und die Arbeit im Garten ist es uns bisher nie langweilig geworden. Wir sind momentan sehr froh uns zum Hausbau entschieden zu haben, da der Aufenthalt in einer Mietwohnung all diese Freiheiten nicht erlaubt hätte. Die Decke fällt uns auch nicht auf den Kopf, da wir mit wenigen Schritten auf dem Deich mit Blick auf die Elbe sind. „Wir bleiben zuhause!“ ist für uns somit ohne Probleme umsetztbar.

So jetzt aber genug über Corona … viel Spaß beim Betrachten der Bilder.

January / February / March 2020: In January and February, relatively little has changed in and around the house. Since the weather was pretty stormy and rainy at the beginning of the year, only the retreat into our own four walls ultimately helped. However, we could at least equip the guest bathroom and the main bathroom with the missing bathroom cabinets.  Finally a mirror cabinet was added to the main bathroom in the middle of March – so the furniture in the bathrooms is complete.

As the weather in March was surprisingly good, we started our Frisian stone wall (Friesenwall) project. Laborwise, we would not have had the time, but due to the corona virus we were forced into our home office like so many other people. Suddenly there was enough time to start this project in mid-March and, to our astonishment, also to complete it in March. Since not everyone knows the term Friesenwall here is a brief explanation: A Frisian Stone Wall is a dry stone wall typical for Northern Germany. Boulders are stacked on top of each other and are not cemented. The wall gains stability through its own weight and the earth that supports it. The top is then planted in different ways. A task that awaits us in April.

In total, we placed 18 tons of boulders on 67 meters on two sides of our property within a week. We obtained the stones from the Beckmann construction center in Nordersted. Our neighbor Rainer helped us again actively – otherwise the wall would not have been finished yet. Of course we kept the necessary distances to each other now needed in Corona times and avoided the greeting with a handshake.

Working in the home office and working in the garden has never bored us. We are currently very happy to have decided to build a house, because staying in a rented apartment would not have allowed all of these freedoms. We are not going stir-crazy either, since we are on top of the dike with a view of the Elbe river in just a few steps. „We stay at Home!“ is therefore feasible for us without any problems.
